Two old men on a bench reflect on religion, politics, life and happy slapping but it transpires there is more to their relationship than we realise. A hilarious sit-down drama about age, showbiz and the cartography of friendship.
Arthur Smith is a multi-award winning comedian, writer, broadcaster and erstwhile Grumpy Old Man. He has performed comedy all over the world and written every form of comedy from stand-up to full-length plays and screenplays. His play, An Evening with Gary Lineker, ran for several years in London's West End and his shows regularly sell out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He appears on Loose Ends on Radio 4 and presents The Comedy Club on Radio 4 Extra.
Phil Nice was in the legendary comedy double act Fiasco Job Job with Arthur Smith. In the intervening 40 years he has worked as an actor, a comedy writer, role player and pub quizmaster.
On TV, he's shown off his obvious skills as a driving instructor in both The Inbetweeners and as Ted in Love Soup. He was amiable Norfolk weatherman Russ in Broken News, down-trodden husband Ben in Hebburn and clueless Brummie neighbour Keith in Citizen Khan - and he once played a man with the memory of a goldfish in the comedy documentary People Like Us.
Oof is directed by Kevin Day, an award-winning BAFTA nominated comedian, writer and broadcaster who has appeared in 11 previous solo Fringe shows, although these days you're more likely to see him credited on TV or a book cover.
