The fire which started on RSPB land at the Minsmere Reserve on the evening of Wednesday 29th August rapidly spread to engulf 114 hectares of carefully managed wildlife habitat, across land owned and managed by the National Trust (Dunwich Heath - 87.3ha) and RSPB (Minsmere Nature Reserve - 26.8ha)
It was important for a wide range of species, such as Dartford Warblers, Woodlarks, Nightjars and Stone Curlew, Adders and Silver-studded Blue butterflies.
Thorington Theatre owner Lindy O’Hare and author of The Boy, the Horse, the Fox and the Mole Charlie Mackesy have come together to raise funds for the restoration efforts of Minsmere and Dunwich Heath.
The performance will be made up of drawing and storytelling by Charlie Mackesy and information about the disaster with questions hosted by Adam Rowlands. He has worked on the Suffolk Coast for over 20 years and well-acquainted with the history and wildlife of the area.
The money raised will be spent locally to address the damage caused by this wildfire.
